Personal stuff

I am very aware I've not done a blog post for a good while, and the few I did at the beginning of the month were pretty poor. Truth be told I have had a LOT going on, not all good. I will be back though, from tomorrow. I have lipstick reviews and other make up reviews to do and a day out with a good friend of mine to tell you about.

Stuff's been going on in my personal life that has just interfered with my usual day to day plans and I've had to priorotise them over the blog, which isn't great as I'm ony just starting out but yeah, there you go.

As they say, these things are sent to try us! See you soon

I'm slacking!!

So I'm aware I've not posted in a while. Again. But I've been doing my exercise DVD and it is a killer but it is amazing! I will do a full review next week (I promise) but what I will tell you is after doing just 10 minutes I can definitely feel it! Yesterday I went to Manchester and met up with an old friend and decided to treat myself so I will be posting pics of my new purchases soon!

After mentioning about my new straighteners, I used them for the first time today and they are amazing!! My hair feels super soft and still quite "full" - I find some straighteners can iron tie hair so much they can leave it feeling rather thin if you get me? They sailed through my hair like a dream and it didn't take me half the time it usually does, though I did dry my hair first so will post another little review after letting it dry naturally. I love that Ivan change the heat settings on them as well - I think I did my hair at 185.

Even with GHDs I've always struggled to straighten the right side of my hair. I don't know what it is but I think it's because my parting is on the left side so my hair seems a lot thicker on that side and is layered more as that is the side my flash is on. With these straighteners however. My hair looks as if I have just stepped out of the hair dressers!!

This week I have also bought some new lipsticks, a new foundation and a new blusher so reviews of them will be coming up too! My little girl is going to her dads for the rest of the week so I may actually have the laptop to myself and be able to post properly as the Blogger app really irritates me!!

Anyway, I'm off to hit the gym for the first time in ages. Oh and buy myself some sandals and a dress. See you soon!!

Fashion with a difference

...courtesy of my soon-to-be 7 year old daughter!

I was just about to write a (boring) blog post about how one of my exercise DVD's have left me crippled for 2 days despite only having done 1 10 minute segment, when Paige, my little girl, curiously asked what I was doing! "Writing a blog", I replied, to which she asked about all the details and what you can put in a blog. "Anything, some poeple write about baking, others about make up and fashion".

I could see the cogs turning in her head before she piped up, "I know, why don't you do a post about my new shoes and new nail varnish?" What a good idea that is! So here are some pics. The first 2 pairs of sandals are from Next, and the last pair from Sainsbury's. And in case you were wondering, the nail varnish on her little tootsies is Kissing Coral by L'oreal. I have also put a pic up of the colour on my fingers, as they are marginally bigger than her tiny toes :) enjoy!

Oh, and sorry about the mess, yet again another spur of the moment post. I need a photography room...

New hair :)

Not quite as planned but it has turned out like a black cherry kind of shade, not the brown I wanted it! It's because I've had it red for that long it's just too difficult to cover it without me going black, which defeats the point of going back to my natural brown colour! It is quite nice though, and although it will take a few attempts to get it to the colour I want it does mean I've not completely got rid of my beloved red, so it isn't as much of a drastic move as I thought.

I've also took some pics of my roots where the black flash is, as that is the colour I want to be eventually. One day! If I can ever get there!!! I've decided that red is the most annoying colour ever, it's hard to get bright, it fades really easily, but when you want to get rid of it or cover it you can't!!! Not fair ha.

Let me know what you think :)

Goodbye red hair!!!

Yes. It is the end of an era! For those of you who know me, I have had red hair in like forever! I've always experimented with other colours but the red has always been back within around 6 months. Even my own dad said he didn't know what my natural colour was anymore!!

You will have to excuse the pic. It is terrible and I apologise but it was a spur of the moment decision to write this post today and I was just sat on my bed when I decided to capture the moment!

Basically I'm going back to my natural colour as the quality of my hair is somewhat declining, and quite frankly John (my fiancé) is sick to death of me dying pillows red :/ I will miss it. I love my red hair. But we have to do these things :(

I'm not doing it myself, I'm leaving it to my trusty stylist. My hair does usually look a lot tidier than this but I washed it and let it dry naturally last night so it's a bit on the wild side ha!

Has anyone else ever made a drastic change to themselves they're not 100% happy/confident with? Did you learn to like it? Get in touch!!

Not sticking to my promises...

So I said that I would post often, and also that I would review those Exercise DVDs. I am ashamed to say I haven't been able to do either this week, as I have done no exercise at all!!! Shame on me... However, I did go back to S/W for the first time in weeks on Thursday and have only gained half a lb, so I can live with that :)

I baked some brownies yesterday as my Dad is having an Easter party tonight so thought I would give everyone a little Easter treat! :) This is assuming my other half doesn't eat them all before we actually get there...

This week my little girl is off school so last week I paid a visit to the garden centre with my Auntie and bought her some seeds so she can have her very own plants to look after :) She is very excited and so am I!!

Completely off topic, I have taken the massive decision to dye my hair back to my natural colour. This was not a decision I made lightly and I am actually absolutely dreading it!! It is currently red with a black flash and it has been red for many years as I absolutely love it!! Needs must I guess...

Last week after stumbling across somebody's blog on bloglovin', I bought myself these lovely straighteners. They are due to arrive on Tuesday and I cannot wait!! T
his is actually the same day I am getting my hair done so I have had to divert the delivery to a relative's house. I choose my timing as always... My GHD's broke before Christmas and I've been going au naturale ever since which is really not a good look for me!!

I know this wasn't the most fascinating post and was completely random, but I will be back soon, hopefully having done something proactive!!

Oh, and if anyone can explain html coding to me, I would be very grateful :)

Hot chocolate on a cold day :)

I like to make my own hot chocolate - milk in a pan with cooking chocolate grated in it, and a little bit of sugar :)

Still going strong with the diet, this is just my little treat to myself! I have decided that I need a cream blusher in my life. Specifically a Topshop one, as I have heard they are very good :)

They are my random thoughts for the day anyway. Enjoy!

Back on the diet!!! Sort of...

So I went to the gym for the first time in about 4 weeks today and my word did I struggle! I only did half the amount I usually do and felt so sick!

Also I went to Asda today with the boyf and got loads of salad and veg to start up Slimming World again, then bought 8 double chocolate brioche rolls and ate the lot... Safe to say they were pretty nice!!

Anyway I weighed myself and I seem to have only put on 1lb so go me!!

I will not be beaten tho! Review of the DVDs I promised coming soon...

Saturday, 23 March 2013

So after about 4 weeks of being very naughty food wise, I think it's high time I got back on the diet! So this morning, feeling quite confident and optimistic, I dug out all my Slimming World books and decided on what meals I was going to cook this week. I now have a very detailed and expensive looking shopping list and a very empty and sorry looking bank account. Oops.

So, at 12 stone 4 (last time I checked), and a height of just 5ft2, something drastic needs to be done. So back to the gym 5 days a week for me from tomorrow. (I'm in work today 12-6, but I will be doing an exercise DVD when I get home. That's the intention anyway).

I'm hoping, by June, I will have reached 11 stone, bringing my BMI to dead on 30. Watch this space...

P.S. I will get some before and after pics up too, and as I go I will be reviewing my DVDs and their effectiveness. If anyone has any recommendations, let me know :)

Stepping foot into the blogosphere...

I absolutely love reading blogs. About anything. I could quite happily sit around all day reading other people's posts. Which is kind of what inspired me to start my own. I've always enjoyed writing, and giving my opinion :/. I'm always making notes about mundane things, absolutely everywhere. I've actually been sat here, writing in a notebook, about things to write about in my blog! Makes no sense I know. So I basically thought, "why not put all my random thoughts into a blog?" So here it is!!

Why Lemonade Sundays?

What words spring to mind when you think of lemonade? Fresh, lemon, bright, juicy, bubbly? Personally I always think of wine when I think of lemonade - I like to drink my wine as a spritzer. Last year me and my partner went on a few days out down Manchester, where I live, doing a bit of a bar crawl when the weather was nice. My drink was always wine and lemonade. It soon occured to us that it seemed to be on Sundays that we were going out, which was the only day we seemed to have off work together. Then a few weeks later me and a good friend of mine went out during the week, and I had my usual. Suddenly I just piped up "this is like a lemonade Sunday!" Cue odd look...

Now however, me and my partner like to treat every Sunday like a "lemonade Sunday". No, I don't mean we drink every Sunday... Despite the weather, or how we feel, we try and treat Sunday as a happy day, a day to relax and feel good, and enjoy our time together. How we do it varies from week to week, but in cold, miserable, wet Manchester, it's nice to just pretend, just once a week, that the Sun does actually still exist (believe me, I've heard that rumour many times).

I think this Sunday I am going to do some baking. Lemon cupcakes sound quite nice, don't you think??
